Good Weekend

We delivered at a BMW car plant. As we were there we saw about 8 new SUV cars roll off the assembly line. Wow, are they nice vehicles.
We had a couple of load offers and one real good one from Miami to Denver. It paid really well too but we didn't get it.
We were then offered a load that had us deadheading to Indiana. We accepted that one.
I drove Friday afternoon until we reached the rest area at the border of a Tennessee and Kentucky. We wanted to try and meet up with Bill's brother, Buck and family on Saturday if we could. They live in Kentucky and we rarely see them.
As I was on Facebook we found out that some friends of ours from Florida were traveling and would be passing by us in the morning and wanted to meet up.
I was so excited knowing that I was going to be seeing friends.

We meet Joe and Eleanora Guthrie the next morning for breakfast. We love them so much. And we found out that today was their 50th Anniversary. It was so good to spend some time with them.
Not long after they left, we meet with Buck, Sandy and Destiny. We had lunch at a restaurant right beside the truck plaza. We got to visit with them for about 3 hours.
It was such a good day.

In the late afternoon and evening Pops drove us to Indiana. We had picked out a church near our destination. Both Buck and Joe know the preacher there. It is Hillcrest Christian Church and Mark Fugate is the evangelist.
We attended the early Church service, then Sunday School and then came back for Sunday evening service.
This weekend was good for my spirits.

Iowa 80

After we delivered in Cedar Rapids we drove back to Iowa 80. It is the world's largest truckstop. We needed to shower and do some laundry along with a few minor repairs.
On our way there we got into a horrible blizzard. Visibility was terrible. Traffic pretty much came to a standstill. I was so glad to get to the truckstop.
We were offered a trip picking up the next day and going to Detroit, so that gave us time to get done what needed done.

Pops fell on the ice when he walked to the garage to see if they could get us in to be fixed. He didn't get hurt. Thank God.

These old trucks are inside the truckstop in Iowa. Next door is a truck museum. We didn't go over but told ourselves that we will next time.

I won't get out and walk anywhere after dark, especially at a place as big as this one.

Our delivery morning had a gorgeous sunrise.

And Lucy finally got a chance to get out of the truck and run. She had been longing to do that.

We have another trip lined up but it doesn't pick up until tomorrow in Detroit. So we are enjoying a quiet relaxing day. I cleaned the truck and restocked our supplies. I have a meatloaf in the crockpot. We really wanted to get home this weekend (it has been sooooo long), but such is life.
Pops checked the weather for Greer, SC, it should be warm and snowless. Yippee!!!
But I bet we don't stay there long. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a load offer before we even get there. Oh well.

Here we are

Well, here we are, in Cedar Rapids. Our delivery is for in the am. We stopped in Council Bluffs, Iowa today to get our oil changed and do a few other things. It was a relaxed day. We took our time and enjoyed the ride.
Tomorrow after our delivery we plan on trying to get into the garage to get a couple of lights fixed and I have two loads of laundry to do.

Do you think the fence will hold him? This guy is in Milford, Nebraska on Route 80 at the 382 mile marker. I take it's picture every time we come by there.

Leaving California

Once again we didn't get to stay long, but oh, how just being in the sunny warmth can lift your spirits. I really like Northern California. The temperatures are warm and the scenery is beautiful.
Our pick up was in San Francisco and is going to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We had to leave immediately for our pickup. It was 10:00am pst, so traffic wasn't too bad. We had a slight delay at our pickup so it was going on 1:00 local time by the time we left there.
We had to drive right through the city of San Francisco and across the Bay Bridge on Route 80. It was a fantastic drive. I was driving so Pops got a pretty good look at the sights.
We were driving in snow before we got out of the state though. Shortly after passing through Sacramento we came to the Sierra Nevada Mountains and there was plenty of snow but the roads were clear.
It was all night time driving through Nevada and Utah so no pictures. There was some rain and ice through Utah and Wyoming but for the most part it wasn't bad.
We are in Nebraska now. We have to get our 34 hour restart per DOT regulations than we'll be off again. We deliver Monday am.
So today will be church and resting.

California

We took a more southern route through New Mexico and Arizona.

Glory is the Garlic Capital of the World.

I had to restock our supplies.
