July 4th

Today is the Fourth of July. Pops and I are in Lubbock, TX. There is a huge park within walking distance so we went there.
It was great to see so many families and their pets celebrating our wonderful country.
There is a Prairie Dog Town at the park and to be honest, that is why we went there. I wanted to see them and get pictures.
It was a good walk in the Texas heat of 86 degrees at 10:30 am, 1 1/2 miles to get there.
I took some apples and spinach leaves because the Internet said they like healthy snacks. And boy, did they ever. At one point, a fight broke out over the one piece of apple that I threw in.
The sign told of a burrowing owl that lives underground and lays its eggs there. We got to see it as well and get some pictures.
It was so much fun.
Happy Fourth of July!

We walked again after the sun went down a little then after we showered we got to watch the fireworks right through our windshield.

After the fireworks as Pops and I were walking out of the showers we passed a young Hispanic woman that was very pregnant. She was entering the truckstop store. A young Hispanic man approached us and told us that she was his wife and their baby girl was due in 2 weeks. He said his wife was sick and vomiting on herself and went into the restroom to clean herself up. He said they were not fro this area but they are here until the baby comes. She is having it at the Lubbock hospital. They had a puppy in the car too. He asked us if we could help them. (I believe that they are living in their car until the baby is born, but not sure.) anyway, Pops and I gave them all the cash that we had on us, it wasn't much but they sure we're grateful.
I sure hope that they do ok. My heart goes out to them.

This morning we attended the Raintree Christian Church here in Lubbock. It is a real good church. The evangelist is a young man named, Josh Haynes. We heard a good message, had communion with the other believers and sang some good praise songs.
Now it's time to head into another work week. We are looking forward to more great opportunities. God is good.
